EXHAUST EXTRACTION FOR THE ARMY

The NORFI-Military Line product line, meticulously designed for many military facilities, offers a comprehensive solution. It is necessary to remove diesel engine exhaust fumes directly from the exhausts of combat vehicles such as tanks, armoured personnel carriers, artillery vehicles and, tactical vehicles, trucks, generators or other types of military equipment. This versatility ensures that our solutions can be applied to various scenarios, providing you with the adaptability you need and the reassurance that our systems can meet your specific requirements.

RECOMMENDED SOLUTION

NORFI's AR-type linear exhaust systems are highly recommended for their efficient collection of exhaust gases from moving vehicles, which not only ensure a clean and safe environment for military operations but also prolong the lifespan of the vehicles by reducing exposure to harmful emissions.

These systems are designed to be easily connected to the exhaust outlets of the military equipment. The process is straightforward and can be completed by trained personnel, ensuring a seamless and efficient exhaust extraction process.

The AR exhaust system is used for vehicles in motion and those remaining/being parked.

The DOT point exhaust systems are designed for stationary workshop stands. Our systems efficiently remove exhaust gases, ensuring a clean and safe working environment for maintenance and repair operations.

The DOT exhaust system, available in a version installed under the floor or mobile, offers versatility and adaptability to different military facility setups.

The DOT exhaust system is used for stationary vehicles.

AR-type systems are mobile, linear extraction units designed for vehicles in motion or temporarily parked in workshops. They connect directly to a vehicle’s exhaust pipe using quick-disconnect nozzles and capture fumes before they enter the workspace—ideal for frequent vehicle movement.

DOT-type (point exhaust) systems are stationary installations for fixed workshop stations where vehicles remain in place during maintenance. They are mounted on floors, walls, or overhead structures and provide controlled, centralized extraction.

In practical terms, choose AR-type systems for mobile equipment and flexible operations, and DOT-type systems for dedicated maintenance bays with consistent vehicle positioning. Most military facilities benefit from a combination of both systems: AR units for reception areas and mobile maintenance, and DOT systems for brake shops, fuel system testing, and other stationary operations.

The variety of military equipment is closely related to the different shapes of exhaust system outlets

To connect the exhaust system outlet of a given military vehicle with the exhaust extraction system, an appropriate nozzle/adapter is necessary. Each military vehicle has a different type of outlet (pipe), so NORFI Polska offers nozzles and adapters for all military vehicles. NORFI’s Technical Development Department accepts individual orders for specific vehicles, which it implements following customers’ needs.

The installation process is straightforward. We mount the nozzle/adapter on the military vehicle, ensuring a secure and airtight connection. Then, we connect the exhaust system from the vehicle’s exhaust to the nozzle/adapter. To ensure that work with exhaust gas collection systems is quick, all technical solutions have quick connectors compatible with the connectors on the nozzles/adapters. Below are sample photos of nozzles/adapters designed and manufactured by NORFI:

COMPATIBILITY

NORFI's nozzles and adapters fit, among others: T-72 tank, PT-91, K2 Black Panther, K9 Thunder, Leopard 2A4/2A5, Leopard Power-Pack, WZT-2, WZT-3 technical vehicle, 2S1 "Goździk" artillery vehicle, M120 Rak, BWP-1 transporter, MTLB, KTO Rosomak, AHS Krab, WR-40 Langusta, Homar-K, HIMRAS.

NORFI's method for simultaneous removal of oil and exhaust gases from military vehicles

For servicing vehicles whose engines and exhaust gases emit large amounts of oil, we manufacture SF-300 series oil pre-separators. These are technical devices with a two-stage method of separating and catching larger oil particles escaping with exhaust gases from the engine exhaust system. The SF-300 unit is available in a basic version or expanded with automation elements. These pre-separators not only ensure a cleaner and safer working environment but also extend the lifespan of the exhaust extraction system by reducing the amount of oil particles that need to be filtered out.

An oil pre-separator captures and separates larger oil particles that escape with exhaust gases from the engine exhaust system, protecting downstream filtration components and extending system service life.

Military vehicle exhaust temperatures vary significantly depending on engine type and operational load. Main battle tanks produce exhaust temperatures of approximately 600°C. Armored personnel carriers typically range from 400–550°C, while tactical trucks, generators, and mobile power units operate at 300–450°C.

NORFI systems are engineered and tested to safely handle these temperature extremes without degradation, material failure, or safety risks.

NORFI designs custom nozzles and adapters for over 40 military vehicle models, ensuring compatibility across NATO and international military fleets. The catalog includes solutions for main battle tanks, armored personnel carriers, and technical support vehicles.

If a specific vehicle model is not listed, customers are encouraged to contact NORFI—its engineering team regularly develops custom solutions for new platforms and rare vehicle variants.

NORFI systems are engineered for reliability and require minimal maintenance. Most routine servicing can be performed by an in-house mechanical team with basic training. Comprehensive maintenance manuals and technical support are provided if questions arise.

Yes. Even short-term exposure to exhaust fumes can cause dizziness, drowsiness, or difficulty breathing. Long-term exposure may lead to asthma, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Further information on the health risks of exhaust exposure is available in the referenced article.

Military exhaust fumes are estimated to contain approximately one thousand different chemical compounds. Among the most dangerous are benzene, toluene, and 1,3-butadiene, all of which are carcinogenic.
